If you write programs for games or online interactives and want to share or know of a good one, fill out the form and send me the link. We especially like games and interactives with a scientific, technological, engineering, or mathematical theme. We prefer ratings of “E for Everyone,” but will accept M (Mature) ratings if they are clean and speak well of the human race. Thank you. Jan

P.S. If you abide be our ratings of E and M, give us your Twitter account and we will follow you @STEMStrong.

The National Archives

The National Archives offers lesson plans and activities for teachers to engage students at their site. The Archives also monitor an interactive site where you can find and create your own learning activity teaching historical thinking skills at DOCS Teach. The site provides a sample activity with their President Reagan and the Cold War activity. Check it out. Thanks to @USGovNews for the lead through Twitter.

Rock-Paper-Scissors: You vs. the Computer
Complements of the New York Times
From the site: “Computers mimic human reasoning by building on simple rules and statistical averages. Test your strategy against the computer in this rock-paper-scissors game illustrating basic artificial intelligence. Choose from two different modes: novice, where the computer learns to play from scratch, and veteran, where the computer pits over 200,000 rounds of previous experience against you.” It took me 27 rounds to finally tie the computer in wins — we tied 9 times and each won 9 times. Check it out NY Times Rock Paper Scissors Game. Thank you to Quinnipiac University Professor Alexander Halavais for sharing rock-paper-scissors with us.
